Christchurch Raises £1149

Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, November 1. The sum of £152 was raised at the final community singing concert of the 1933 session at the Civic Theatre last evening', making the total amount by which the relief funds have benefited frotn the community singing up to £1149. “You will agree with me that this is a magnificent record,” said the mayor, Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P. “The money will provide some hundreds of meals, as well as clothing and so on, for those in the city who'are greatly in need of them. It will lift the misery to some extent from the homes of our people, and at the same time the actual community singing has given us manyhappy hours, not only In this hall but throughout Canterbury and other parts of the Dominion.” llllllliilllllllllllillllllllllllllllHillllllllllll
