FIRE AT PALMERSTON

Workshop Badly Damaged ■ Dominion Special Service, . Palmerston North, November 1. Considerable damage was done to a shed at. the-rear of the residence of Mr. Nt, Bruce, Church Street, by fire this morning. The fire,brigade received the call at 5.23 a.m. from an alarm box and found on arrival that the outbreak had a strong hold in the rear portion of the building, , and was well established ..in the front section, where a small workshop is situated. Eight poultry brooders, all in operation, were destroyed in the rear portion of the building, where the fire commenced. In spreading to the workshop the flames damaged a small mo-tor-boat engine beyond repair, and destroyed a number of tools. A motorcar which was in the section of the building adjoining the workshop was fairly extensively damaged about the upper bodywork. Mr, Bruce was in Wellington last evening, and intended to return to-day. Particulars of insurance are not available.
