Tramway Route Numbers
Sir, —I read “Wellingtpnian’s” letter in “The Dominion!’ this morning, and 1 heartily agree that some alterations should be made. I should like to make a few suggestions to the tramway department. Regarding Island Bay trams leaving Lambton Quay and going through Hunter Street up to James Smith’s Corner, these trams should show No. 5. as occasionally some of them do actually run No. 10 via Wakefield Street. I think that a change should be made for Wadestown trams. These trams could show No. 8 both ways, this to be applied to all trains running via Wallace Street and Lambton Quay, or vice versa. I understand that only about one tram a day uses the present No. 8 route, so this route could be deleted, aud the change could be made without any inconvenience or expense in adding to the present numbers on the trams.' If this change were made it would not conflict with the present No. 6 trams running via Jervois Quay and Wallace Street. There is no doubt that Oriental Bay trams running Lambton Quay should show No. 1. I would suggest that the tramway department make these changes, and inform the public by notices posted up in the trams and in the official timetables, which, by the way. are now supplied free. Ihe travelling public are quick to learn, and these alterations would soon be appreciated.—l am, etc.. TAKE A TRAM Wellington, October 31.
