Women’s Championships -EIGHT PLAYERS STILL IN By Telegraph.—Cress Association. Wanganui, October 16. Mifis O. Kay had an easy win from Miss Grace (Wanganui) in the third round of the women’s golf championship tourney, which was continued to-day in fine weather, the links being slightly on the dead side after heavy week-end rain. Miss Currie, the Wanganui champion, eliminated Miss Helean. (Castlecliff). She commenced shakily. The loser improved her' game on the homeward journey, doing 34 for the eight holes. Miss Currie ■rfon, 2 and 1. MissTß. Gaisford had an easy win over Miss Rathbone. Mrs. Collinson played sound golf in beating Mrs. Robertson. Excellent -putting enabled Mrs. Guy Williams to defeat Mrs. Macfarlane 3 and 2. . The remaining games were evenly contested.' \ Results are as follow :— " ' ' . Miss Currie beat Miss Helean, 2 and 1. Mrs. Blain beat Miss Rutherford, 3 and 2. ' ' Miss Kay beat Miss Grace, 3 and 2. Mies Barns-Graham beat Miss Ormond, 2 up. . , . , Im addition to the championship round, the Ti.G.U. Challenge Bowl was decided, this being over 18 holes on stroke handicap. Scores in this match, especially those later in the afternoon, were adversely affected by the high wind and were, in the cast of the leaders, not quite up to the standard of the Coronation Medal round last Friday. The best gross card was that of Miss O. Kay, who did the round in 79, four strokes ahead of* Miss O. Smith (Napier), but the latter player’s handicap of eight gave-ber a net 75, which was the best of the match. Four'players had net 77's, these being Mrs. Broderick, 88-11-77, Mrs. Monteith, 95-18-77. Mrs. Monkman, 92-15-77, Mrs. Schroff. 90-13-77. The followingj/iyera will meet in the fourth, round to .decide who shall enter the semi-finals set down for Wednesday: Miss Currie plays Mrs, G. Williams; Miss Gaisford plays Mrs. Collinson ; Mrs. Stout plays Mrs. Blain ; Miss Kay plays Miss Barns-Graham. At a meeting of delegates to the N.Z. L.G.U. to-night it was decided to hold the next ladies’ golf championships at Titirangi. Mrs. H. S. Lawrence was reelected president.
