NOT FOR CANADA
The Roosevelt Experiment
MR. BENNETT’S SURVEY
(Received October 11, 5.30 p.m.) Winnipeg, October 10.
“Any Government of Canada would be recreant to its duty if it launched out at this time upon a policy similar to the National Recovery Act in the United States,” declared the' Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. R. B. Bennett, to-night when addressing a meeting here.
Mr. Bennett expressed admiration for the objectives of shorter hours and higher wages, but Canada, with some ten and a half million people against 125 million to the south, was a debtor country, and such course would be folly at this time.
