TAXATION BILL

Levies on Land and Income PASSED BY LOWER HOUSE The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Bill, which confirms last year’s rates of taxation, was introduced by Gov-ernor-General’s message in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon and immediately put through all stages and passed. Tire Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, said that the Bill contained no new provisions. The effect of it was to levy taxation on income and land for the year. It was similar to the one introduced and passed last year. On resuming to-morrow afternoon, to which day the House was adjourned as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Leader of the Opposition, Mr. H. E. Holland, members will discuss the report on the World Economic and Monetary Conference.
