Collision With Fire-engine

ACCIDENT AT PALMERSTON

Dominion Special Service.

Palmerston North, October 4

When proceeding to a chimney fire this morning, the Palmerston North Fire Brigade’s new tire engine collided with a light motor-lorry at the corner of Andrew Young and Main Streets. The lorry overturned, but the driver, Mr. AV. Procter, was uninjured. Mr. Procter was driving his lorry along Main Street in the direction of the Square, when the fire engine turned into Main Street in the same direction from Andrew Young Street. The lorry was considerably damaged, but the fire engine received only slight damage to a mudguard and a tire. This is the first oceasiou in which a fire engine has been involved in an accident in the 20 years In which motors have been in use by the Palmerston North brigade.
