DRINK AND DRIVING

Opinion of Motor Official TEMPERANCE URGED Dominion Special Service.' Dunedin, September 28. The question of how much a man should drink when he has a motor-ear to drive was the. subject of comment by Mr. F. W. Johnston, president of the South Island Motor Union, at the annual meeting of the Otago Motor Club. “I am not one of those who say that a man should not have a single drink when at the wheel,” said Mr. Johnston. “It should be a man’s own responsibility entirely. Everyone should know his capacity and act accordingly.” Continuing, he said that he could not enjoin temperance too strongly. Temperance in all things . should be the guiding rule of the life of a motorist.
