Gangster Murder at Melbourne DEATH OF LABOURER (Received September 22, 7.30 p.m.) Melbourne, September 22. A murder of the American gangster type has occurred at Fitzroy. " James John, twenty-five years of age, a labourer, was shot five times in the stomach and chest by a man who stepped out of a car and afterward drove away with a companion. John, who died on the pavement, was in the company of a boxer named Chrisfleld. When the car drew up bullets were deliberately rained at John, but Chrisfleld was unharmed. Chrisfleld declares that the murderer is unknown to him.
