White Man Banished BECHUANALAND INQUIRY Cape Town, September 13. Phineas Macintosh has been sentenced at Palapye to banlstjment from all native territories. He admitted assaulting a native who hjt the native woman with whom Macintosh was living in the native settlement. The official evidence gave a deplorable account of his relations with women. The sentence has given general satisfaction. The Resident Commissioner of Bechuanaland served an order on the Chief Tshekedi limiting his movements within the area of the Palapye camp, and suspending his chieftainship, pend-, Ing the result of an Inquiry into the Native Court’s action in awarding lashes in the case of Macintosh.
