HYPERION AGAIN

Makes One-horse Race of. the St. Leger THREE LENGHTS VICTORY By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, September 13. On the second day of the Doncaster meeting to-day, Lord Derby’s colt, Hyperion, followed in the footsteps of champion three-year-olds of the past by adding a St. Leger Stakes victory to a Derby Stakes success. Again he completely outstayed the opposition, scoring by three lengths from Felicitation, who was seventeenth in the Derby, and his stablemate Scarlet Tiger, who was fourth in the Derby. It was a one-horso race, Hyqpenon winning as easily as he liked. The muchboomed French hopfe, Thor 11., never got near him, and none of the others ever troubled him. T. Weston merely had to sit still while the colt bowled along with a perfectly delightful action. ' . Weston, who also rode the colt in the Derby, now holds the record of ten classic wins, compared with Childs’s nine. It was the present Lord Derby’s fifth St. -Leger victory, his other successes being with Swynford (1910), Keysol (1919), Tranquil (1923), and Fairway (1928). . , The win was immensely popular. Breaking his rule of never talking after success. Lord Derby said he was glad it was all over. He had been taking slimming cures, but a St. Leger win, when your horse is favourite, slims you more quickly than all treatments, and is not so expensive. The result was as follows:—

ST. LEGER STAKES, a sweepstakes with 4000 govs, added; second 10 per cent, and third 5 per cent,, of the whole stake; breeder of winner 500 sovs.: for three-year-old entire colts and fillies.
