A “Hollywood” Party

“J SUPPOSE you have all heard .Florence Desmond’s amazing onewoman sketch, ‘A Hollywood Party,’ over the air, by this time,” writes the London correspondent of “British Film News.” This took the breath away from Savoy audiences when it was put over by the one, and only Florence You may be Interested to know that her mimicry is just as extraordinary when seen, as heard over the air. Her lightning switches from one famous film character to another are all done without make-up, and she even puts over a completely convincing impression of Jimmy Durante, while wearing a pale pink evening frock. What makes her impersonations more remarkable is that Florence has never been to Hollywood, and simply works from observations made at the cinema. “It’s all a matter of mannerisms,’’ she declares.
