CHURCH DESECRATED

Vestments and Holy , Vessels Stolen LITTER OF BOTTLES LEFT By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Cliristchurcli, September 3. The desecration of the Anglican Church at Flaxton by a drunken party, who left a litter of empty bottles behind, is reported. The intruders damaged the kerosene lamps, stole the holy vessels, eucha-. ristic vestments, and a kerosene heater. It is believed that it was more a drunken'spree than a deliberate theft or profanation, because a few days later some men in a car were observed returning the heater. They escaped from pursuit. The vessels stolen were not intrinsically valuable, being of plated metal, but they had an age value as had, the vestments. Also, at the same time, a theft- occurred at Clarkville Church, where the Sunday school moneylbox, containing a few shillings, was stolen.
