HEAVY DEATH-ROLL
India’s Abnormal Rainfall destruction jby flood ' (Received September 3, 7.15 p.m.) Calcutta, September 2. It is many years since the Indian monsoon has taken so heavy a toll in death and destruction as has followed in the wake of this year’s excessively heavy rainfall. ; Vast stretches of country are under water* and buildings have collapsed on all sides to their having peen weakened by the flood waters. The death-roll was added to day, when sixteen persons were killed by a collapsing veranda in Alwar during a religious ceremony.
