Vice-Regal. Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe opened the annual sale of work in St. Mark’s parish on Wednesday afternoon. Yesterday evening their Excellencies were present at a screening in the Grand Opera House of the film “King of the Jungle.”-/ : Dr. Allwyn O. Keys returned to Wellington yesterday morning after three years’ post-graduate study in Europe. Mr. R. Brown, secretary of the Wellington Hospital Board, has resumed his duties after several weeks’ absence owing to ill-health. Mr. John Phillpott, who has retired from'the staff of Messrs. Sargood, Son, •and Ewen, Ltd., Wellington, after 45 years’ service as departmental’ manager, received several presentations at a staff gathering in his honour, yesterday evening. A pair of fireside chairs from the staff and a settee from the directors, together with a handsome cheque drawn from the provident fund, were presented - by Mr. D. A. Ewen, managing director.
