Prospects of Mercantile League The aiinuaU report of the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League states that the 1932-33 season was one of the most successful it has . enjoyed, no fewer than 38 teams taking part in the competitions. The finances are in a healthy condition,.as the amount; in tfie P.O. Savings Bank stands at £lO9/10/9, while there is £27/0/- on current account “The prospects for the coming season are distinctly bright,” the report concludes; “and there is already ample evidence that it will measure up to be equal if not better than any of the preceding years, and we look forward to the continued support from all clubs, not only by all continuing on in the league, but also by their endeavouring to influence other firms, departments or dubs to join up with the Mercantile Leagtie, thus making for brighter and more enjoyable cricket than can be had outside the league.”
