DAILY AMUSEMENTS

An extremely diversified list of amusements has been arranged for the week, as will be seen from the following selections from the programme:— Opening ceremony at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 4, by his Worship the Mayor. A monster trade procession will parade through the town with bands. 8 p.m.: Scottish Society Pipe Band, Market Place. Tuesday, September 5. —10.30 to 11.30: Gills’ slow bicycle race, boys’ motor-tire race, etc. 4 p.m.: Four basketball matches. 8 p.m.: Salvation Army Band. Wednesday.—lo.4s to 11.30: Children’s games, Queen Street. 4 p.m.: Scottish dancing in Market Place. 7.10. p.m.; Procession of teams £rom the various sports clubs on decorated lorries or marching. Decorated trades’ displays, and others, accompanied by bands. Thursday.—lo a.m.: Civic reception to New Zealand Boxing Association delegates. 10 to 10.45 a.m.: Children’s races. 3 p.m.: Marlborough v. South Marlborough hockey match. 7 p.m.: Boxing championships. Friday.—lo.3o to 11.30 a.m.: Decorated bicycles, prams, tricycles; procession through town by children. 4 p.m.: Entertainment by Mr. Mack Love’s Maori Party in Market Place (hakas and poi dancing). 7 p.m.: New Zealand Boxing Championships. 8 p.m.: Regimental Baud, Market Place. ■ Saturday.—lo a.m.: New Zealand Boxing Championships. 2.30 ' p.m.': Wellington-Marlborough football, Lansdowne Park. During the half-time interval the Nelson and Marlborough Model Aeroplane Clubs will compete together. On each afternoon of Shopping Week (except Saturday), between the hours of 2.30 and 3.30 p.m., a lady or gentleman will be walking along Market Street between Criterion Hotel and Empire ' Hotel corner. This person will have 10/- to give away to the first person who says: “Welcome to Blenheim; please give me that 10/-.”
