“King of the Jungle” For those in search of something unusual in (lie way of animal pictures. "King of the Jungle,” Paramount’g new release at the Grund Opera House, can be thoroughly recommended, for it is easily one of the best films of its type ever sent out from Hollywood. “King of the Jungle” is outstanding in many respects. Firstly, it has for its star Buster Crabbe, the Olympic swimming champion, a young man of remarkable physique and with considerable acting ability. Secondly its jungle and circus scenes are unrivalled';' and, thirdly, the story is excellent. Buster Crabbe is seen in the role of a man brought up from curly childhood in a lion’s lair in Africa, Ins parents having been killed while exploring. lie grows up wild and free as the animals themselves, and Ims complete control of the ferocious lion kingdom. Later ho is captured and taken to America as star turn of n circus. Romance enters into his life, and he is finally tamed. However, his one thought is to free all the lions in captivity and send them hack to their native land. This, with the aid of his fiancee, he does. A highlight, of the film is a marvellously staged fire and subsequent stampede of people and wild animals, at the circus. 11is sequence, especially when infuriated elephants start to wreck everything, including motor-buses, that conies m their way, is one Of the most thrilling and terrifying evoi’ screened. r rhc star is assisted Frances Deo and a cast of well-known actors. r l?hcrc is a first-rate supporting bill.
