FRUIT PRICES EASIER The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 19, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : — Tallow: Market continues quiet with values nominally unchanged. Hemp: Manila —Market easier but steadier at the close. “K” grade for August-October shipment sold at £l5 10/-. Output from January 1 to July 31, 620,000 bales against 519,000 for same period last year. Stocks in the United Kingdom at July 31, 11,764 bales against 27,842 bales same time last year. Stocks in Manila at July 31, 118,000 bales against 135,000 at same time last year. Sisal: Market steady. No. 1 for Septem-ber-November shipment quoted sellers £lB 2/6. New Zealand: Market unchanged. Stocks in London at July 31, 111 tons against 125 tons same time last year. Eggs: Market is very firm and outlook is promising. English, national pack, 14/6 to 17/6; English, ordinary pack, 14/- to 15/-; Danish, 10/- to 13/-. Fruit: Market slow. LIVE STOCK MARKET Feilding Sale Prices At the Feilding stock sale on Friday the entry of both fat and store sheep was smaller than the previous week. There was a large yarding of both fat and store cattle. Fat lambs and fat ewes were not as keenly sought after, and prices receded 2/6 per head. There was only a small entr> of store sheep, principally hoggets, which were in particularly keen demand. Prices showed an improvement of 2/6 per head, in fact, graziers were competing with butchers for Romney lambs i'n the fat pens. The market for cattle was fully maintained, with the exception of dairy stock, which met a heavy market. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Distributing Co., Ltd., report that fat sheep sold on a par with the previous Week, while fat hoggets were slightly easier. The demand for store hoggets was keen and prices were up 1/- to 1/6 on previous sale. Beef prices opened very firmly, but the market was oversupplied and values declined slightly toward the end of the sale.

FEILDING HORSE SALE Keen Bidding Bidding for unbroken horses was keen and good prices were made at the Feilding sale. Quiet, but firm. New Zealand cheese: White, 49/- per cwt.; coloured, 52/-. Very quiet. Advice has been received Hint the ex Kurow, Mabel Moller, encountered a tvphoon when approaching Hong-Kong on her voyage from Newcastle. About 4ft. of water wag shipped In the No. 1 hold. She left Auckland in June, and arrived at Hong-Kong early this month.
