FIRE AT WANGANUI
House Badly Damaged Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, August 21. Cloths hanging on a door on the inside being pushed on to a candle was responsible for a seven-roomed house, situated in Durie Street, Durie Hill, being badly damaged by fire, during the week-end. By the time the Wanganui Fire Brigade arrived the blaze had a strong bold. The firemen managed to save the rear portion of the building, which, however, suffered from smoke and water. The house itself was insured, but not the contents. It is owned by a Mr. Woods', and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Dickie, and a family of five. William Dickie, aged 19 years, cut an arm badly when getting out of a window, and had to be taken to the Public Hospital. It was reported to-day that his condition was satisfactory.
