ANNUAL BALL

Poneke Football Club The annual ball of the Poneke Foodball Club took place at the Mayfair Cabaret last night, and was an unqualified success. Nearly 300 dancers enjoyed the spirited and rhythmic music of the High-hatters’ Band, and the arrangements were all excellent The supper tables were decorated in the club’s colours, and were gay with spring flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Southern Colledge gave an exhibition dance which was heartily applauded. During the evening a presentation was made to the ladles of the social committee by Mr. A. F. Wiren, the president, on behalf of the club, in recognition of their services during the jubilee year. Each lady received a gold brooch made In the form of a football, on which the club's monogram was engraved. Mr. O’Brien replied on behalf of the ladies. The following are the members of the social committee: Mesdames ■R. O’Brien (who wore black lace), C. Neal (navy georgette and lace), A. Martin (electric blue velvet), G. Symonds (black satin), F. Tilyard (.peacock blue chiffon velvet); Misses A. Murray (ivory angel-skin lace), B. Boon (.black marriette and lace); Messrs. O’Brien, Crichton, J. Payne, E. Neal, T. Booker, Symonds, Martin, and F. Tilyard (secretary).
