MEN’S HOCKEY
Games With Wairarapa A letter from the Wairarapa Hockey ' Association, received at last' evening’s meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Hockey Association, suggested September 9 as a suitable date for a Wairarapa B representative team to meet a Wellington junior representative team. The date was held to be suitable, and it was also decided to accept Wairarapa’s invitation that a senior representative game should be played on the same day. ’ The Wellington Hockey Club .wrote expressing' the regret of the club’s senior A team for its default to Hutt last month, and requesting that the letter be forwarded to the referees’ association and to the referee concerned. The letter, being in accordance with the committee’s instructions, was accepted. Appreciation of the team’s action was expressed. Clubs are to be asked to nominate players for positions in the North Island team to meet the South Island representatives on September 2. ' A suggestion was received from Canterbury that secondary and primary school representative teams should meet Wellington teams this season. It. was decided to reply stating how difficult it would be to select a primary schools’ team owing to the shortness of the local season and hoping that a fixture might be possible next season. The matter of the secondary schools’ team was not finalised.
