Settlers in the Upper Waitotara district are experiencing considerable duneulties in transport owing to.the number of slips on the road, caused through heavy and continuous rains. The road above Ngamatapouri was completely blocked three davs ago. Two settlers on their way to Wanganui, after assisting tor six hours the men employed in looking after the road, had *o turn back home because the slips were too big to clear before nightfall During the heavy rain a few weeks ago the river rose 35 feet some ten feet less than the big flood about fifteen or sixteen years ago.
