WOMAN KILLED Fell While Attempting- to Board Petone Train NGAHAURANGA ACCIDENT A woman was killed under the wheels of a Petone-bound train at Ngahauranga last evening. She was in the act of boarding the train when she fell between tho carriages, and the train, which was moving quite slowly, passed over her body. The dead woman is Mrs. Caroline Ryan, senior, aged 59. late of Australia, and has been living at Ngahauranga. The accident occurred when a train was about to leave Ngahauranga station on its way to Petone at 9.25 p.m. The guard and stationmaster both saw a dark object fall to the rails, and immediately gave the signal for the train, which had only travelled ten yards, to stop. Mrs. Ryan was extricated from beneath a carriage, but death occurred five or six minutes later, and her body was removed to the morgue.
The late Mrs. Ryan was a well-known resident of Ngahauranga, where her husband, two sons and two daughters, reside.
