To-day’s Varied Programme EVENTS FOR ALL TASTES Patrons of outdoor sports will have a wide variety of attractions to choose from to-day. Rugby Programme. The Wellington Rugby Union have arranged an attractive programme for its patrons. Those old rivals, Poneke and Wellington, will oppose each other in the senior first division at Athletic Park, Wellington College Old Boys and athletic will try conclusions on Newtown Park, Petone and Eastbourne will meet on Petone Oval, and Hutt ami Marist will fight out the issue on the Hutt Recreation Ground. Senior second division games will be played at Johnsonville, Prince of Wales. Park, Kelburn Park, and Wakefield Park. Rugby League. The Wellington Rugby League has arranged three senior games for this afternoon. Celtic and Petone will meet on the Winter Show Ground, City will oppose Koro Koro at Hutt Park, and Newtown and Randwick will try conclusions on Crawford Green. All three matches will commence at three o’clock. Association Football. The 'Wellington Football Association has arranged two senior games on the Basin Reserve this afternoon. Waterslders and Swifts will oppose each other on No. 1 ground, and on No. 2 ground Marist and Technical will try conclusions. .Men’s Hockey. The Karori-Wesley and Varsity-Huia senior A games will be played at Karori Park, and the Hutt-Wellington match at Lower Hutt. The final of the senior A five-a-side tournament will also be played at Karori Park. Women's Hockey. After a break, owing to the seven-a-side tourney last Saturday, women's hockey championship matches will be resumed this afternoon. A good afternoon’s programme is provided at Newtown Park, when three senior matches will be played. At 2 o’clock College Old Girls meet Ramblers in the senior A grade, while at 3 o’clock Toa play College Old Girls and Upper Hutt oppose Hospital, all four leading teams in The B section. At Karori Park Hula play Karori and Varsity meet Technical Old Girls in the senior A grade, both at 2 o’clock. Other senior B games are: Technical Old Girls v. Hutt, at Woburn, 3 o'clock, and Wcnerei v. Swifts, at Karori Park, at 2 o'clock. Junior matches will be played at Petone, Johnsonville. Newtown Park, Upper Hutt., and Tanera Crescent. Road Cycling. This afternoon the Poneke Amateur Cycling Club will conduct the first of a series of three races for the Ericsson Teams Shield. ’The club will also hold a 101-mile event open to members of the Hutt Valley club and club riders not engaged in the teams’ race. Harriers. The annual teams’ race for the McVilly Shield to be held by the Scottish harriers at the Hutt Park furnishes the only event of interest in the harrier programme in Wellington to-day. The remaining chibs will hold the usual outings. Basketball. The Wellington Basketball Association games drawn for last Saturday week will be played to-day. The senior A grade representative trials will take place at Newtown school courts at 3.20 p.m., the list of those players required to attend being published in Friday’s “Dominion.” The Golf Card. The qualifying round for the Webb memorial competition will be played on the Miramar links to-day. Manor Park and Waiwetu will meet in a Watt Cup match on the Manor Park links this afternoon. Tiie Waiwetu and Manor Park ladies’ clubs will play a Mary Alward Cup match on the Waiwetu links. A men's foursome will be played on the Shandon links to-day. Paekakariki and Titahi will engage in a Watt Cup match on the Paekakariki links to-morrow. The Shandon ladies’ chib will play an L.G.U. medal round during the week-end. The Manor Park ladies’ club will play an L.G.U. round this week-end. The Mornington ladies’ club will play the third round in the Dentice Cup competition during the week-end. The semi-final of the Athens Cup and the final round of the Kirk Cup will be completed on the Waiwetu links during the week-end.
