BOXING ASSOCIATION
Manawatu’s Past Year Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, April 27. “I do not wish to appear over-optimis-tic, but consider that by strict attention to the sporting, and business sides of the association's alfairs, the incoming executive can anticipate ,-t successful year's operations during 1933,” states the annual report of the president of the Matmwatu Boxing Association, Mr. E. R. Wimsett. “During the past year the association again experienced great dillieulty in promoting suitable matches, so much so that it was considered preferable to restrict the number of matches rather than run the risk of seriously jeopardising the financial position of the association. At the present time there is really a dearth of high-class performers, aud to enter into matches which show very little prospect of providing good exhibitions is to court trouble in more ways than one. Although only one professional bout was staged during the year, it was an excellent exhibition, and the funds of the association were augmented to a considerable extent. “The statement of accounts and bal-ance-sheet calls for very little discussion, save perhaps to mention that the cash in hand shows .a considerable increase on last year's figure. The secretary and treasurer have kept a watchful eye on your finances, and are to be congratulated on achieving the above result after a fairly active year's operations."
