Interesting 1 Gramophone Recital More than 50 members of the Yorkshire Society of New Zealand assembled at tho Dominion Farmers’ Institute recently, when the president, Mr. Karl Atkinson, gave a gramophone lecture on “Yorkshire in Music.” Appropriately enough,the lecture commenced with a rendering of the York Minster Bells, a peal of 12 bells, bringin” Great Peter, the 10i-tou bell. . The modern Yorkshire composers mentioned by Mr. Atkinson, began with Frederick Delius, a composer of international fame. John Coates, one of. England’s greatest tenor’, was born near Bradford. Other famous Yorkshire musicians that the speaker mentioned were Ethel Leginska Sir Henry Coward. Arthur Mcalc, 01-'n Ilnlev, and Walter Widdop.
