EASTER ATTRACTIONS
Wide Variety Offered PROGRAMME OF EVENTS More than usually complete and, even, in some cases, elaborate, arrangements have been made by sports and entertainment organisations in Wellington district for the enjoyment of public and participants over the Easter holidays. The following are the main fixtures for sports and other entertainments to be held on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Monday :— To-day: Eastbourne Carnival, including attractions for all tastes; harbour cruise by the “Pirate Ship,” starting from the Eastbourne ferry wharf at 8 p.m. Good F riday: Eastern Suburbs bowls tournament on Lyall Bay, Seatoun and Newtown greens, and Hutt Valley tournament; Wellington Lawn Tennis Association’s Easter tournament at Miramar ; yachting regatta at Paremata. Easter Saturday: Eastbourne Carnival gala at Titahi Bay; racing at Tauherenikau, Feilding, and Hastings; commencement of Wellington provincial golf championship at Heretaunga, and Shandon and Manor Park tournaments; Eastern Suburbs bowls tournament and Hutt Valley tournament; tennis tournament at Miramar; friendly Rugby games; Soccer match atthe Basin Reserve between North and South Islands; Sea Scouts’ regatta; lifeboat contest for Mercantile Marine Cup; cricket match between a Hastings senior eleven and a Wellington junior team in Wellington. Easter Monday : Eastbourne Carnival; Titahi Bay Carnival; Rangatira excursion to Picton: racing at Tauherenikau, Feilding. and Waipukurau; golf at Heretaunga (Wellington provincial tournament), and tournaments at Shandon and Manor Park; Eastern Suburbs and Hutt Valley bowls tournaments; tennis tournament at Miramar; Soccer match between Auckland and Wellington at Basin Reserve; Paremata yachting regatta ; cricket match between a Hastings senior eleven and a Wellington junior team.
