NAZIS WARNED
Plain Talk to Leaders JEWISH PERSECUTION Reactions in United States “DISASTROUS IMPRESSION” By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, April 11. The “Daily Herald” states that outspoken remarks by Mr. Norman Davis, chief United States delegate to the Disarmament Conference, to Herr Hitler and Baron von Neurath regarding Jewish perscution were primarily responsible for the concessions to lawyers. 'Mr. Davis emphasised that the Jewish progroni had caused a disastrous impression in the United States. Mr. Davis made it plain that the leading financiers of the United States, hitherto favourably disposed to Germany, would be adamant in their refusal to assist while ill-treatment of the Jews continued. Herr Schacht, as President of the Reichsbank, at the same time intervened on behalf of the Jews. The “Daily Herald” adds that German messages show that all pretence of the liberty of trade unions is being destroyed. Nazi police attend meetings, and register disapproval of decisions. Members of works councils who do not meet with Nazi approval are being asked to resign, and are replaced by Nazi nominees.
