Moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds, reaching gale force at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits, backing to southerly in the far south and soutnenie becoming general within the next 24 to 36 hours.. Rough seas south of Cape Egmont, and rather rough north of Kaikoura; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong northerly winds backing soon to southerly, and seas rough in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still mainly dull and unsettled, with rain at times in most districts. " Temperatures warm, especially in eastern districts, but becoming cool with the southerly change.
