TOBACCO PLANT IN SOUTH

....... V* Invercargill Grower’s Success By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, March 16. Evidence that the climate of Invercargill was just as well suited to tobaccogrowing as that of some northern districts was supplied to-day by Mr. C. Blomfleld, of North Invercargill, who produced a good sample leaf of fine quality Virginian tobacco from a crop of 50 plants which ho was growing in his glasshouse. Although the plants have been in for only ten weeks, they are about four feet in height and are just coming into flower.

Mr. Blomfleld intends to dry and cure the tobacco and test its smoking qualities.
