NOISY MOTOR-CYCLES

Oriental Bay Complaints SPEED-BOAT NUISANCE Complaint was made by Cr. W. Duncan at last evening’s meeting of the V'ellington City Council of the nuisance created in Oriental Bay by motorcycles, particularly on Sunday evenings. Cr. Duncan asked if it were not possible to send a trafli cinspector to prevent its recurrence. Cr. J. Burns supported Cr. Duncan. He had only been a resident of Oriental Bay for ten days, but already he had been waited upon by four deputations. Ou Sunday last there was a speed boat rushing about for two hours and making a noise that could be heard at Petone. In his opinion these speed boats were worse than the motor-cycles.

“I quite agree,” said the Mayor. “We have had the police after these people, and we may get the traffic inspectors to try and catch the offenders. As to the speed boats representations would have to be made to the Harbour Board. If so, something might be done to abate the nuisance.”
