Limited, the registered office of which is in Christchurch, has purchased an option over the claim of Messrs. R. Bell and N. and L. Hooper, the price to be paid on the exercise of the option being approximately £12,500. A company to be called the Bell-Hooper Cromwell Gold, Limited, is in process of formation to exercise the option and to work the claim. The area of the claim is approximately 20 acres, and it is situated on the north bank of the Kawarau River at the mouth of the Kawarau Gorge, below the old Lady Ranfurly dredge at Clay Point.

London, reports that an agreement has been reached between the Oil Exporting Trust of the U.S.S.R. and the Western India Oil Distributing Company to supply the latter with more than one million tons of Russian oil products, which quantity docs not include kerosene.

The Shaw-Sarill liner Akaroa reached Lyttelton yesterday morning from AVcllington to commence her Homeward loading. She is to leave there again next Tuesday for Port Chalmers, Auckland, and AVellington to complete. The Akaroa is due back here on March 3, and is scheduled to clear this port finally at daybreak on Jlarch 8 for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. TAINUI LEAVES BALBOA. The Shaw-Savill Company has received cabled advice that its liner Tainui, en route from London and Southampton to ■AVellington and Auckland, cleared Balboa on Thursday. She is due here on Jlareh 11. ■ TANKER RANELLA. . The Shell Oil Company has received cabled advice that (he tanker Ranella left Balik Papan on February 12 for Lytte 1ton and Auckland. She is due at Lyttelton on Jlarch 2. KAIMIRO IN PORT. To discharge the local portion of her cargo from Adelaide. Edithburg. ‘and Jlelbourne. the Union Company’s Kaimiro is due at AVellington this morning from Lyttcltou. and will berth at ?*o. 1 north Queen’s AVharf. Line steamer Port Hunter cleared Dakar on Wednesday. She lelt AVellington on January 16 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow, via Cape Horn. Montevideo, and Dakar. AORANGILEAVES HONOLULU. The Union Company advises that its motor-liner Aorangi. from Sydney and Auckland, was to have left Honolulu yesterday for A'aneouver, where she is due on February 24. CANADIAN CRUISER SAILS.
