TAKAPUNA MEETING

Saturday’s Fields Reviewed GOOD RACING EXPECTED Dominion Special Service, Auckland, Jan. 25. The fields for the opening of the Takapuna Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday are not particularly strong, but they are of fairly even quality, and shou.d provide good racing. The weather remains fine, and present indications are that the going will be very firm. There is a disposition to favour tue chances of Speedmint and Great Emblem in the Takapuna Cup. Both have, been working well at Takanini; so have Sunny Sky and Merry Damon, who were transferret! from Ellerslie to 'Takapuna a few days ago. No announcement has been made regarding which race Sunny Sky will contest, but 11. N. Wiggins will be her pi.ot iu whichever she contests. _ The three-year-old filly, Gay Marigold, is well fancied for the Zealandia Handicap, and if she runs up to the form she revealed in finishing a close second to La Moderne in the Queen’s I’late at Eherslie, she will make it difficult for the others. Her chief danger may come from Eager Rose, Marechai and Paganelli. Riding engagements are:—

H. N. Wiggins: Sunny Sky, Sunny Bachelor, Gay Broney, Moonfleet, and Courthaven. . K. Voitre: Gay Marigold, Speednnut, Diversion, King Mestor. P. Atkinson: Great Emblem, Substation, Gay Sheila. G.
