NEW RUSE BY A THIEF.

A new ruse was adopted by a London thief who lately ntole £63 from a clerk returning from a bank, whom he stopped in Charing Cross Road. A bareheaded man, with a pen behind bis ear, who represented himself as a bank messenger, said that a mistake had been, made, regarding some cheques. I persuaded the clerk to hand over the £G3 he was carrying and to return to his oflice without the money.
