NATIONAL FLOWER SHOW

Excellent entries have been received for the National Flower Show, to be held in the Town Hall and the Concert Chamber on Thursday and Friday next, Janu ; arv 20 and 27. Begonias, in pots ami cut. will make a striking display in competition. The cut flowers class (nine kinds) lias also been well supported. Ibis is an early season for dahlias, and entries of hundreds of feet have been made; and there are good entries in the competitive gladioli classes. Sweet pens will be shown in profusion. In addition there should be mentioned the paintings ot New Zealand native flowers wmeh cau now be seen only on mountain tops and in other inaccessible places, as the taking ot the plants is prohibited. The Jubilee Institute for the Blind (Auckland) will sta-e an exhibition of garden furniture ami baskets made by the inmates. The halls will be available to exhibitors for taging all day on Wednesday.
