Waipukurau, Jan. 20. Heavy movements of stock are taking place in Central Hawke’s Bay. Visiting the Bast Coast districts, a "Bomimon representative met two mobs of over two thousand very prime wethers on the Porangahau-Waipukurau road. Inquiries reveal that over 10,000 wethers have been driven from the Porangahau districts in the last ten days, on account of a large freezing company. A particularly tine line of approximately 6000 wethers left the Tautane Station during the last fortnight. Prices indicate that the market is rapidly hardening. A feature of the stock movement is the number being driven by road, one line of 3000 being driven for 90 miles to the works. One mob met near Waipukurau looked in excellent condition despite their 40-mile journey. Recent heavy rams have improved the travelling. There is also undoubted activity m beef It is stated that 900 fat cattle have been secured between Porangahau and Wanstcad. The prices being offered for beef in this show a marked improved since the New Year.
