Calcutta, Jan. 16.
After a trial lasting three years, and costing the Government £120,000, twenty-eight men, including three British, were sentenced at Beirut for conspiracy to wage war against the King. Over 300 witnesses were examined in the trial, which disclosed that some of the accused, with the aid of large sums of money from Russia, fomented strikes among Indian railway and jute mill workers, which was intended to be the preliminary to the establishment of a movement to overthrow the Government,
One man was' sentenced to life transportation and five to twelve years. The other sentences range from ten down to three years.
