Trouble at Japanese Factory

(Received Jan. 19, 7.15 p.m.)

Kobe, Jan. 18.

Prolonged agitation among Singers SOOO employees culminated yesterday at Yokohama. A hundred discharged employees rushed the office, smashed doors, windows and furniture, and threw’ all the books and documents into the river. They attacked loyal employees, severely beating twenty of them. The police arrested fifty. The trouble was caused by the yen exchange, making machines too costly during the depression period.
