Mr. and Sirs. A. Duncan, Uuanui, arrived in Wellington yesterday. Sir Charles and Lady Statham arrived in Wellington yesterday morning from tlie South Island. Mr. I’. R. Climie, of tlie Unemployment Board, was among tlie passengers yesterday morning fr2.nl the south. Mr. D. J. Malone, president of the Stratford Racing Club, is visiting Wellington. The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, who has been away in Rotorua on holiday, will return to Wellington on Monday. Mr. G. Blundell, of Victoria, 8.C., who has been touring the North Island, returned to Wellington yesterday morning, and left for the south last night. Mr. J. B. Murphy, a director of tlie Advanx Rubber Co., of Australia, left V/ellington for, the South Island on Tuesday evening. Mr. I’. R. Wingrove, secretary of the Tail-Waggers’ Club, will leave Wellington during the week-end for Hawke’s Bay in connection with the Napier carnival celebrations. ' Colonel J. Sclater, traffic manager in Australia and New Zealand for the Canadian Pacific Railways, left on Tuesday evening for the South Island. He expects to return to Wellington early next week. Mr. W. J. Beisley, of East Fremantle, Western Australia, received cabled advice of the death of his father yesterday. Mr. Beisley, who lias been taking part in the Dominion Bowling Association’s tournament, will leave for Sydney en route to Fremantle by tlie Wanganella to-morrow. Colonel J, Hargest, D. 5.0.. M.P. for Invercargill, will deliver the Anzae Day address in Christchurch at the service to be conducted in the King Edward Barracks under the auspices of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association. Colonel Hargest was in command of the First Otago,Regiment on active service. Mr. B. T. O’Connell, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. O’Connell, Karori, has passed his final examination qualifying him as Associate of Chartered Accountants. Mr, O’Connell, who while studying In England has been indentured for the customary five-year term to a prominent Middlesbrough accountancy firm, expects to return to New Zealand in April.
