Dame Sybil Thorndike was entertained by the Lyceum Club members yesterday at a morning tea party. Mrs. W. Ladner, of Wellington, is visiting her mother at Hamilton. Lady Buckleton, Oriental Parade, is spending a holiday in the Waikato. Mrs. H. W. Baty, Masterton, is visiting Christchurch and Timaru. Miss Joan Stewart, Dannevlrke, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. R. W. McVilly, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Miss Cotton, Wadestown, will leave on Monday for Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. A. M. Goodman, of Wellington, is on a visit to Auckland.

Mrs. S. Wilson, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. E. Clisby, of Epsom, Auckland,

Miss Nina Nelson, who has been visiting Foxton. will return to Wellington this evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Milnes are amongst Christchurch visitors to Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Shirtcliff, who were at Paekakariki 'for the holidaj s, have gone back to Napier. Miss Marjorie Gudgeon, Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Miss. Mary Gudgeon, Christchurch. Miss Hilda Scurr. who has been staying with her cousin, Miss Thora Rice, Wellington, left recently for Sydney. Sir ■ Philip Brocklehurst and Lady Brocklehurst, England, are at present in Christchurch.

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Fussell, Gladstone Terrace, have returned from Timaru, where they spent Christmas with the Misses Fussell, Russell Square. Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Oakes, of Kelburn, are visitors to Auckland, with Miss Majorie Oakes and Miss Ann Seine.

: Mrs. V. Cornaga, of Wellington, is spending a holiday with Mrs. Alison, at their seaside residence, Brown’s Bay, Auckland..

Mr. Blyth, London, who was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. George Shortcliff, Tinakori Road, left yesterday for Sydney. . Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Tripe, Selwyn Terrace, are expected back on Monday from a visit to Mrs. Douglas Williams, Clareinch, Waipawa. Mrs. A. J. Evans has returned to Nelson after spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs. R. J. Koefoed, Parnell, Auckland.

Miss Stewart, Wellington, who, with her brother, the Hon. Downie Stewart, has been spending a few weeks in, Dunedin, has returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Marshall and Mr. W. Marshall, Island Bay, spent the New Year with Mr. and Mrs. H. Studholme, “Browhead,” Rongokokako. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Tarkington, who have been spending the holidays in Christchurch, will return to .Wellington to-morrow morning. Mrs. A. H. Tocker, Fendalton, Christchurch, has returned home after a visit to her mother, Mrs. J. D. Sipvwright, Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. A. Macandrew and family, of Muritai, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs. ' Hunter Macandrew, Macandrew Bay, Dunedin. Mrs. Herbert Chapman, Dunedin, will arrive to-morrow to stay, with Mrs. A. Longmore, Brougham Street, to meet Mr. Herbert Chapman on his return from America early in the week. Mrs. Terence Bridgeman returned to Dunedin from Sydney, during the week. She will arrive shortly in Wellington, where she and her husband will in future reside.

Mr. and Mrs. Alorgan Duncan, who spent the holidays at Heretaunga with Mrs. lan Dunean, returned to Wanganui early in the-week. Mr. and Airs. R. Gilmer and Miss Holmwood, who have been in Ledham Flats for the holidays, will motor back to Blasterton to-morrow; Mrs. Holmwood, who was also therej returned home yesterday. Miss Enid Christian, of Palmerston North, who has completed her training at Massey Agricultural College, will leave by the Limited on Monday to take up a position on a poultry farm at Whenuapai, Auckland.
