THE SECRET.
A beautiful secret the brownies knew. Hundreds of years ago; They wanted to sell it to everyone, And their eyes were all aglow. The animals wanted to hear it, too, So did the birds and flowers, But the brownies just hurried, across the hills, Digging for hours and hours. They dug tiny holes—which to them, seemed big! Filled them with fairy charms, Then off they went running as wild as wind, Waving their small brown arms. At night-time the brownies all fell asleep, Under the open sky ; The wind fell asleep in the still black trees; \ The stars tcokc tip on high. Theii up through the earth all those fairy charms. Pushed in the silent night. And when morning came they were everywhere, Ifodding to greet the light. The brownies all laughed when they saw them there, Nodding across the dells ; The birds and the animals saw them too, Beautiful Christmas bells!.
