SUICIDE OF BOY
Death After Punishment Dominion Special Service. Hamilton, Jan. 3. A verdict of death due to a rille shot, self-inflicted, wits returned at the inquest concerning the death of a boy, William Gross, aged 18. son of Mr. R. O. Gross, farmer, of Hinuera. The boy, who was a pupil of * hc Matamata Junior High School, was found dead at bis home on Saturday morning, a pea-rifle beside the body. According to the evidence, the boy’s father set him a small task on Saturday morning, and on his refusing to perform It the father chastised him slightly. The boy returned to the house and informed his mother that be would not do the work. He then went out. After the mother had left the house to go to Hinuera, the boy, who was ot a term era men tai nature, returned to the dwelling, obtained his father’s .22 calibre rifle and a cartridge, went in the study, which he used as a bedroom, and shot himself.
