DISCOUNT INCREASED
Electricity for Commercial Use NEW SCALE PASSED Several recommendations dealing with the increase of discounts in respect to commercial lighting, Seating and power were submitted to the City Council by the electricity committee last evening. The following reductions, to operate from December 1. were recommended. Commercial Lighting-The present 10 per cent, discount to be Increased to 15 Pe Commercial Heating.—A discount of 10 per cent, on the present rate of -d per U power.-A discount of 10 per cent, for current consumed under the standard unit U I? was also recommended that the electricity department be authorised to take steps to operate a commercial demand tariff on the following basis:— (a) Flvepence per unit until tje juantity consumed amounts to 45 multiplied by the consumer’s maximum demand in KVA.; and one penny for all units used in’ excess of this amount. (b) This tariff to be subject to a guaranteed revenue of £7/10/- per K.V.A. per all (°” l Any consumer electing to be charged under the demand tariff to be required to remain on this tariff for a period of not less than 12 months before being PermHted to revert to the unit tariff should he Cr *o!* H. Chapman drew attention to the fact that the reduction only referred to commercial accounts. He asked what was being done for domestic consumers? The Mayor said that these, reductions were all they felt justified in granting at present. Domestic consumers were already on a favourable basis. \ _ . . The recommendations were adopted.
