Mollison (Amy Johnson), who is flying to Cape Town, landed at 12.30 yesterday and Is proceeding to Duala, in the Cameroons. Reuters declares that there is no
need to worry about the aviatrix as news travels slowly in the region over which she is crossing. A message from Tessaoua states that she passed over Niamey at 9 a.m., compared with her husband’s arrival there at 6 p.m. on the second day of flight VICTOR SMITH MISSING Wide Belt of Dense Forest London, Nov. 16. Victor Smith, the nineteen-year-old son of a South African boot manufacturer, who left Cape Town at midnight on November 12 in an attempt to beat the air record to Croydon, was ahead of his schedule when he reached Duala at 3.40 p.m. on November 14, and departed for Gao. He has since been missing. The district between Niamey and Duala is a dense belt of forest 800 miles wide, and infested with insects. FLIGHT TO LONDON Captain Bertram Sets Off Sydney, Nov. 17. Captain Hans Bertram, the German airman, with Mr. Alien as co-pilot, hopped off yesterday on the first stage of a flight to London. The flyers had a rousing send-off. A mechanic and passenger are accompanying them.
