Sir James Gunson, member of the New Zealand Railways Board, returned to Auckland by the Limited express last evening. Mr. AV. C. Whitlock, managereditor of the “Hawke’s Bay Tribune” and “Hawke’s Bay Herald,” is on a brief visit to Wellington. Mr. G. R. Hutchinson, member of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, arrived from Auckland by the Limited express yesterday. Major-General W. L. 11. SinclairBurgess, General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Forces, returned from the north by the Limited express yesterday.

Mr. D. McCaskill, 8.A.,; has been appointed senior inspector of the Wellington education district as from February next, and Mr. W. J. Boden, who has held the position of acting-senior inspector, will be transferred to Auckland at that time.

Mr. Wm. Machin, of Christchurch, past-president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, was yesterday reappointed as a vice-presi-dent of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire.
