Finances “All Square” for Year TREASURER’S REVIEW “I have consulted with Mr. Roffe as to the figures and accounts, and it seems aS though we will come out about square on the year,” announced Mr. J. W. Jack, the treasurer, at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Free Ambulance yesterday. “All items of expenditure have been closely scrutinised, and every economy and .care is being exercised to keep down expenditure.” The financial statement showed receipts amounting to £205/2/- (as compared with £2lO/2/7 for October last year), and expenditure £363/1/10 (as compared with £319/2/10 for the corresponding mouth of last year). The debit balance at the Union Bank was £619/7/3, as compared with £64/12/11 at the corresponding time last year. The chairman (Mr. C, J. B. Norwood) said, there was no new comment to make upon the financial situation. Their income was irregular, while there was a definite standard of expenditure. Nothing had arisen since the last meeting, but there was evidence that the people were going to try and do their best for the Free Ambulance during .the year. i Mr. Roffe, superintendent, said that the Wellington Fire Police had got permission to organise an art union, from which they ho]>ed to raise £lOO, and Mrs. Halligan bad intimated that she intended to devote the profit from her annual pupils’ recital to the Free Ambulance. The superintendent also reported that from December 13 they should cease doing transport work at Otaki. They now had a district ambulance at Palmerston North, and Otaki being in that hospital district, would be included in its sphere. Mr. Norwood said that the provision of a proper ambulance service at Palmerston North would enlarge the advantages of the service.' As chairman of the building committee, Mr. G. Mitchell reported that the contractor hoped to be in the position to hand the new building over to the board at the end of January. Mr. R. L. Button reported that the furnishing arrangements were in hand. The superintendent reported the following cases for October: 72 accidents. 381 transports, 1 slight and 2 serious office eases; total 456 (674).
