WORK FOR THE WEEK
The Flower Garden Continue bedding out of all summerflowering annuals. Plant out chrysanthemums. Good drainage is important. Sow seed of ceiosias and cosmos. Lift bulbs when foliags has turned yellow. Dry, clean, and store in a dry place until time to plant. Pick spent rose blooms and spray for aphis, if necessary. Plant out dahlias as previously directed. Prick in bonedust when working the soil around tubers. Continue replanting of violets by dividing the crowns.
The Vegetable Plot Make another sowing of runner beans. Further sowings may also be made of beet, carrots, parsnips, leeks, and garden swedes. Sow pumpkins and marrows. Cape gooseberries and kumeras can be planted out in warm positions. Prepare celery trenches for use a little later. Earth up potatoes and make another sowing. Thin out seedlings and keep thy earth between rows well broken up.
