Sir, —We have read with interest the statement issued by Mr. Polson, Dominion president, wherein he makes public the attitude of the New. Zealand Farmers’ Union on the tariff issue. There are many matters mentioned therein which could be replied to, biit one important factor has struck us as a serious omission in the statement. How does Mr. Polson and the Farmers Union intend to absorb the present unemployed and those who will become unemployed as a result of their policy? And further, what is more important, would they give their views on how they intend to absorb the natural increase of population?—We are, etc.,
