DOUBLE TRAGEDY

Man & Woman Found Dead POLICE SUSPICIONS (Received Nov. 14, 0.15 a.m.). Sydney, Nov. 13. Lyle Withers, aged 38, a bootmaker of Narrabri, and Isabella Golden, 20, married, with three young children, were found dead early this morning. Mrs. Golden had been housekeeping for Mr. Withers for six weeks. Her head was terribly battered and her neck was almost severed. Mr. Withers’s throat was cut and he had a gunshot wound in his chest. Neighbours heard an altercation, shots and screams, also a strange man’s voice. The police detained a man who was a former acquaintance of Mrs. Golden, and who recently returned from Queensland. The police later came to the opinion that it was a case of murder and suicide Thev believe that Withers committed the deed. The detained man is to be released.
